Between 1 – 3 May the Fossil Festival takes over Lyme Regis and with it comes a truck load of fun for the family.
There is usually no shortage of boffins to talk to from the Natural History Museum scientists , British Antarctic Survey, Palaeontological Association, UK Onshore Geological Survey, Plymouth University, Natural England, Jurassic Coast, Dorset Geologists, Geological Society, Lyme Regis Museum, Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre, National Trust, Dorset Wildlife Trust, National Oceanography Centre, Dinosaur Isle and many more.
The Jurassic Coast stretches back over 185 Million Years and is an UNESCO World Heritage site, so it is this unique Geology that makes Lyme Regis the perfect location for the event.
There will be a whole host of fun and activities to keep the whole family entertained over the three days. Events include a guided fossil walk, collage-making, a fossil fair and a music.
